Keep Slim During the Holidays
There are so many fattening foods lurking this time of year. Its very hard not to want to indulge more than you should when you go to parties or go out with friends. There are some really good ways to avoid the fat and enjoy more of your time, without engorging though.
• Before you go out to a party, drink a few glasses of water. Water will help fill you up so you won’t be as likely to stuff your face. Better still, make it lemon water. You'll burn fat and save calories.
• Conversely,if you know you’re going to be out for a long night, try and eat something healthy before you go. A small green salad, bowl of fruit, nutritional drink, or a protein shake is always a good suggestion.
• Wear clothes that are slightly snug on your body. If you’ve got extra room around your waist especially, you will feel free to eat more than you should.
• If you're trying to keep slim, also keep your weight loss goals in mind. Think about that sexy black dress you've been trying to fit back into instead!
• Get in mind what foods you can have before you go. Fresh vegetable platters are typically served at most parties. Plant yourself beside one if your food cravings kick in during the party.
• While you’re partying, move around. If people are dancing, be sure to join in and burn calories to keep slim.
• Move around the room and talk to people you don’t ordinarily connect with. If you’re talking up a storm, you’re not eating!
• Remember too, that alcohol has a lot of hidden calories. Party punches, mixed drinks, too many glasses of wine, and even beer calories can quickly mount up. Moderate your consumption so you don’t gain weight.
• Don’t heap food onto your plate. It’s tempting to want to try everything that’s being served so remember to pick and choose which foods you really want and those that you can live without.
• Holiday dips made without veggies are a source of high fat and high calories. Opt for spinach or veggie dips that at least have some healthy ingredients in them. Moderate how much you take of them too.
• If you’re going out to a dinner party, eat your veggies last. For optimal digestion and elimination, eat meats and carbs first. These foods are the hardest to digest and should be consumed first when the gastric acids in your stomach are at their highest concentrations. Save room for your salad though. Keep your food perspectives in place while you're eating.
• If fresh fruits are available, choose them over fatty foods that are laden with extra calories.
• During the party, if the pigs in a blanket and small puff pastries are staring you down, ask for a bottle or glass of water. Drink the whole thing and you’ll be less likely to stuff your face with fatty foods.
• If you're feeling stressed out being around that much party food, you will eat more than your fair share. Keep your weight loss goals in mind if you're trying to keep slim. Think about the clothes you'll be able to fit into if you curb your cravings for sugar and fat.
• Always remember: One moment on the lips, a lifetime on the hips!
